Hello and welcome. Thank you for visiting my campaign website. I am Gregory Thayer of Rutland a candidate for Vermont lieutenant governor as a constitutional conservative republican.
I was born in 1963 and raised in Rutland, the fifth son of Helene Doty and Paul B. Thayer. I am a 4th generation Vermonter. I have five siblings; four older brothers and a younger sister. I was educated in Catholic schools and a couple years in public schools here in Rutland. I have a Master's degree in Business Administration Accounting, and today I work as a financial accountant and tax advisor. I have four amazing adult children; Morgan, G. Leighton, G. Alec, and MaceyRegan and two daughter-in-laws; Lisa and Leidy and a my first grandchild, a little girl. And my partner Tammy Lancour.
After graduating from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1982, I attended Castleton State College, then transferred to Virginia Commonwealth in Richmond. I returned home and completed both my Undergraduate and Graduate degrees at St Joseph's College here.
I grew-up working in my parent's grocery stores, learning the value of work, a dollar and treating people with respect. During college I continued my working at my parents market. Then as a Paralegal at UV Bancorp and later for the Vermont Office of Child Support. I managed my parents grocery store in Rutland; Helene's Store & Deli. In 1989, I started a 20 year career in banking & finance in management at Security Pacific/Bank of America, and later with CitiFinancial/Citigroup. I also opened a mortgage banking firm doing mortgages throughout Vermont. In 2005, I started working as a premium and financial auditor with Overland Solutions, and currently with Interstate Audit Services. In April 1996 I opened a small tax practice as Colonial Tax and Accounting Group.
I have Civic, Governmental and Volunteer experience with the following. I served on the Rutland City Board of aldermen, the Rutland Downtown Partnership, the Rutland Redevelopment Authority, land City Board of Zoning Adjustments, and the Rutland Regional Planning Commission. I was an active board member at the Board of Directors for the Rutland Boys in Rutland County Boys & Girls Club, Spectrum Youth and Family Services Board, and the Rutland Youth Football and Green Mountain Hoosters AAU programs. I have volunteered as a youth and high school football and basketball coach at the Rutland Rec Department, the Rutland Youth Football teams, Christ the King School and Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Clarendon Elementary School, and Otter Valley Union High Schools.
I decided to run for lieutenant governor after becoming highly concerned with the woke direction of our great State. I love Vermont, and I believe Vermont is the greatest place on God's green earth! As a Constitutional republican, a conservative I am about “We the People” and my campaign is about the People! I decided to seek statewide office to stand up for Vermont and all 643,000 residents. In December 2018 I founded “Vermonters for Vermont” Initiative to educate every Vermonter about the ills and darkness of the left's Marxist agenda. I had planned to run for the Vermont Senate in Rutland County, but decided that I could have a bigger voice as an advocate for the people! With the direction of the Democrat leadership under the gold dome in Montpelier, I felt it was time to be heard. A year ago after the news of Critical Race Theory (CRT) the time was here, I scheduled Townhall Informationals around the State. I hosted six Townhalls on Critical Race Theory and Equity. I have listened to thousands of fellow vermonter's around our beautiful Green Mountain State. Further, I organized a couple of public events at the People's House in Montpelier. I believe, based on the facts that the democratic leadership in the Capitol do not care about Vermonters!
After attending an “Americanism & Marxism Symposium” I wanted to take this around the State. I joined forces with the author and "Advocates for Vermont" group, and together we have been touring Vermont to educate every Vermonters about the light and greatness of America against the darkness and evils of Marxism.
My campaign for Lieutenant Governor is about the People, all the People: “We The People”, are this State and this Nation, and I want to hear your voice now and in Montpelier when I am elected as LT. Governor. I will not be the "traditional" Lieutenant Governor that sits back and gavels the Senate in & out of session. I will be very proactive and work for the people. I will continue to go around our State and listen to you, the People. I am going to stand up for taxpayers, your voice and our Constitutional rights as Vermonters. Thank you.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL,
GREGORY
